<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">In the summer of 2022, <a href="https://story-trails.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">StoryTrails</a> toured libraries and public spaces across the UK, ending their tour in the borough of Lewisham.&nbsp;</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Emerging creative professionals, &lsquo;StoryMappers&rsquo;, were embedded in communities to research and collect stories, which were developed as immersive cinema, AR and VR installations and then taken back into these communities via a series of pop-up events. In September 2022, Catford Library was transformed for a unique experience that allowed local people to capture and experience their towns in completely new ways.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 14pt;">As part of the StoryTrails Legacy, a series of events will be taing place across Libraries in Lewisham, showcasing the technology and stories created, from mixed media art workshops to VR drop in sessions</span></p>

<p>BIPC Lewisham is a fully funded service, based within our hub libraries at Catford, Deptford and Downham, and accessible to all residents and businesses operating in the borough. BIPC Lewisham is a partnership between Lewisham Library Services, the Economy, Jobs and Partnerships department and the British Library. Some services and resources require a Lewisham Libraries card.</p>

<h2>We&nbsp;offer a home library delivery service to residents who are disabled, ill, older or a carer.</h2>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>We offer a free monthly service delivering books in normal or large print, talking books, music CDs and some films on DVD. There is no age limit on this service and it is completely free.&nbsp;</p>
<p>We offer this service to Lewisham residents and their carers who through age, disability, or illness are not able to visit a library.</p>

<h3>Visiting the reading room</h3>

<p>To use the resources available at Lewisham Heritage, you need to <a href="https://www.archivescard.com/ARA/SignUp/ARAHUB/Create_Account.aspx?hkey=d5a25565-95c6-44d7-9327-a08aa65217f0">register for an Archives Card</a>. You&rsquo;ll then need to <a href="https://lewisham.events.mylibrary.digital/browse-rooms?rooms=178,164">book an appointment</a></p>

<p>Archive material is available by appointment only.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The material we hold is in many cases irreplaceable, so it must be treated with great care. You will need to leave any large bag in a locker, and to use a pencil rather than a pen for making notes from archives.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Food and drink must not be consumed anywhere in the local history and archives centre.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3>The area we cover</h3>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The borough of Lewisham includes the ancient parishes of St Margaret, Lee and St Mary, Lewisham, also the parish of St Paul, Deptford (the ancient parish of Deptford was divided in 1730 into the parishes of St Nicholas and St Paul. The parish of St Nicholas is now in the London Borough of Greenwich).</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The borough also includes the following districts: Bellingham, Beckenham (part), Blackheath (part), Brockley, Catford, Crofton Park, Downham, Forest Hill, Grove Park, Hatcham, Hither Green, Ladywell, New Cross, Southend, Sydenham.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>This area was in the county of Kent until 1889 when the London County Council was formed. The exception was the Hatcham/New Cross area of Deptford, which was in Surrey.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Deptford was in the Greenwich Registration District. Lee and Lewisham were in the Lewisham Registration District.</p>
