Our Communication Support service works with stroke survivors who are living with communication difficulties, such as aphasia. Our service can offer you opportunities to develop communication strategies, rebuild confidence and independence, and help you to rebuild your life after stroke. Our service offers support driven by the identified needs and desired outcomes of both the stroke survivor and carer. Who is this service for? Stroke survivors report that their communication disability leaves them feeling isolated and alone. Feelings of loneliness and low self-esteem can lead to long-term psychological distress. They need specialist support from professionals who get the challenges and emotional impact stroke and aphasia bring. What we offer: - Home visits - Take time to understand what is important to you - Run a Communication+ group for stroke survivors with a communication difficulties. Support may be in a group setting, or one-to-one, from a stroke support coordinator and trained volunteers - Opportunity to practice communication, and gain confidence - Information, peer and emotional support - Further signposting Please get in touch if you have a communication difficulty.
