A collection of stories and visuals straight from the heart of Deptford Market. We have gathered stories from the market traders who create the vibrant atmosphere that has been a vital part of the Deptford community for many years. The team from Deptford Library have been out onto their doorstep and explored the vibrant and ever-changing street market that stretches from Douglas Way and down Deptford High Street. The result is a 16 minute film, featuring the stories of current traders, 3D photography of the market and surrounding area and an atmospheric look at Deptford. The Trader Tales exhibition also showcases the work of over a dozen local artists, bringing their experiences of Deptford to life in different media. Artists include Janet Barfield, Vicky Card, James Christie, Frankie Churcher, Paul Clayton, Kethi Copeland, Poppy Frean, Tomilyn Rupert, Anita Strasser, Ashlie Urquhart, Jasmine Waldorf, and Abigail Weston. Trader Tales is open to all and you do not need to book. The exhibition launches with a private view (find out more here https://libraries.lewisham.gov.uk/events/location/49) on Friday 1st March 5.30pm-8pm, and is then open during normal library opening hours:- Mon - Fri 9am - 7pm Sat 9am - 5pm Sun closed
