Description:
Dover Arts Development is delighted to be hosting Simon Bill's talk DOVER WALKING with V22 Libraries. Simon Bill’s DOVER is a book about this well-known but widely misunderstood little town on the south coast of England that many of us will have passed through without stopping. The entertaining and accessible illustrated talks are about its forbidden subterranean forts, orchids and butterflies on the Western Heights, inept local government, allotments and follies, the trout stream that flows past Poundland, those far-right visitors in the Market Square, the inspirational Channel swimmers, the archaeology they dig up and immediately bury again. It’s about Dover seen as England in microcosm. Following a 45 minute talk we will open to the floor for discussion. The book that normally retails for £10 will be made available to participants of the talk to purchase at the cost price of £5.75 Manor House library is fully wheelchair accessible and the parking area is available to use for anyone attending this event.
