Lewisham Libraries is delighted to showcase artwork created by pupils at Myatt Garden Primary School during their annual Art Week, inspired by the National Gallery’s Take One Picture programme.

Reception pupils created colourful “Fantastical Shells”, inspired by details from the painting including shells, jewels, patterns and a golden throne. Using paint, metallic pens and gems, they produced vibrant mixed-media artworks.

Year 4 explored mythical sea creatures from Greek mythology and historical maps, designing and embossing their own creatures onto metal foil before adding colour and texture.

Year 5 focused on the fish featured in the painting, developing drawing and printmaking skills to create detailed fish prints using Tetra Pak etching techniques. Visit the Children’s Library to discover these imaginative and impressive creations.
