Lewisham Community Zine Library

The Lewisham Community Zine Library is a vibrant new collection celebrating the underground publishing scene and grassroots creativity of our community

What is a Zine Library?

Zines (pronounced "zeens") are small-circulation, self-published works that have been at the heart of creative expression and social movements for decades. Our Community Zine Library brings together an eclectic collection of these handmade publications, featuring everything from poetry and personal narratives to political commentary, art, music reviews, and community activism.

The Lewisham Community Zine Library offers:

  • Local voices first – Showcasing zines created by Lewisham residents and South London creators

  • Diverse perspectives – Stories and artwork that reflect our community's rich multicultural heritage

  • Creative inspiration – Resources for aspiring zine makers, including workshops and talks

  • Alternative media – Publications that challenge mainstream narratives and amplify underrepresented voices

  • Community connection – A space where residents can discover, share, and create together

Whether you're interested in feminist manifestos, neighbourhood histories, comic art, or experimental poetry, the zine library provides a unique window into the creative underground of our borough and beyond.

Got zines to share or sell or want to run a workshop? We'd love to hear from local creators and collectors – get in touch via this form to apply.
