Reading Groups at Lewisham Libraries 

Love reading? Whether you're already part of a reading group or thinking of starting one, Lewisham Libraries can help.

Reading groups come in many forms. You might enjoy: 

  • A monthly book club with a shared title 
  • A reading chat group where members recommend and discuss books they've been reading 
  • An online reading group for members who cannot meet in person

 

Get a Reading Group Library Card 

Reading groups can apply for a free Reading Group Library Card, giving access to multiple copies of titles for group discussions.

 

Benefits 

  • Reserve reading group books free of charge
  • Books remain available for collection until your meeting date
  • Renew books after your meeting, subject to availability
  • No late fees

 

How It Works 

We'll create a Reading Group Library Card for your group. 

To apply, you'll need: 

  • A named contact person. 
  • An email address for the group contact. 

The group contact will receive reservation notifications and coordinate book choices with members. 

Once books arrive, individual group members can collect their copy and borrow it using their own library card. 

 

Requesting Books 

To help us source enough copies for your group: 

  • Have two or three title choices ready. 
  • Contact your local library to place a request. 
  • Submit requests at least 3 to 4 weeks before meeting.
  • Requests for recently published titles may be subject to availability.

Browse our Reading Group Collection, featuring titles with six or more copies available across Lewisham Libraries. These books are particularly well suited to book groups and can be reserved free of charge using a Reading Group Library Card.
